Salah Makes Egypt World Cup Squad Despite Shoulder Injury

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been named in the final 23-man World Cup squad for Egypt ahead of this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Salah was a doubt for the tournament after he sustained a shoulder injury in Liverpool’s 3-1 UEFA Champions League (UCL) final loss to Real Madrid on Saturday, May 26.

The former Fiorentina and Chelsea star had a phenomenal season in the colours of the Reds before his season came to a halt in dramatic against Real Madrid in Kiev.

Initial fears prompted talks of him missing the four-year football showpiece but he is set to be fit for the tournament.

He is currently recuperating from the injury and will join up with his teammates on June 9 ahead of their World Cup opener against Uruguay on June 15.

Hector Cuper’s side will also play hosts Russia and Saudi Arabia in Group A at the World Cup in Russia.
