The Nigeria National League (NNL) abridged league will start on March 3 according to the agreement reached by the body’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The AGM which took place at the Naptin Suites in Lagos also saw club members earlier vote in favour of an abridged league.
14 clubs reportedly voted in favour of the abridged league while 12 clubs voted against the idea.
The new abridged league format will play host to 36 teams competing in four groups.
The abridged league will also go on break during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia before resuming back on July 21.
It was also agreed at the AGM that a Super 8 tournament will determine the four teams that will secure promotion to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).
