Sarri Edges Closer To Chelsea Move After Napoli Exit

Maurizio Sarri has moved closer to becoming the new manager at Premier League giants Chelsea after his Napoli exit was confirmed.

Sarri is the favourite to become the new Blues manager with serious doubts surrounding the future of Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.

Sarri’s exit from Napoli was confirmed by the club president Aurelio De Laurentiis via Twitter. He tweeted that: “I would like to thank Maurizio Sarri for his precious dedication to Calcio Napoli, which has made it possible to give prestige and emotion to the city and to the blue fans all over the world, creating a model of play admired everywhere and by anyone. Bravo Maurizio.”

Sarri, who led Napoli to a second placed finish in the Italian Serie A last season, rejected a £5.2 million a year offer to manage Zenit St.Petersburg as he prefers a move to Stamford Bridge.

Napoli have moved quickly to replace him with Carlo Ancelotti who met with De Laurentiis in Rome last night.

His official announcement is expected later this week.
