Mikel Coy On Retirement (Audio)

Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel last night responded to a question about him retiring from the national team in an evasive manner, leading to further questions about how much longer the China-based midfielder will be part of the Nigeria setup.

Mikel captained the Super Eagles to an international tournament for the first time in Russia 2018 but unfortunately they could not go past the group stages and at 31 years he is definitely in the twilight of his career.

The former Chelsea midfielder made his Eagles debut in 2005 and has gone on to represent his country 85 times, scoring 6 goals.

“I hope I can still be around. Its a fantastic team, good boys. I’ve enjoyed my time with the National team all my years”, Mikel said.

“Nations Cup? We’ll see. Like I have said a few times, I want to take every year as it comes and see what happens. We’ll see”.
