Ligue 1 Review (Final Matchday): Lyon Pip Olympique Rivals Marseille To Final UCL Spot

Olympique Lyon have clinched the final spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) following their 3-2 home win over OGC Nice in a French Ligue 1 Matchday 38 clash played on Saturday.

The hosts didn’t have it their own way after they were stunned by Nice forward Alassane Plea’s opening goal only for star player Memphis Depay to bail his side out by netting a hattrick to put Lyon 3-1 up.

Plea pulled a goal back for Nice with his brace but the home side held on to pick the final UCL spot ahead of Marseille who defeated 10-man Stade Amiens 2-1 but fall short and will campaign in the UEFA Europa League (UEL) next season.
