
UEFA has announced the shortlisted names for Champions League’s best players award for the 2016/2017 season.
The award recognizes the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward in every UEFA Champions League season.
Goalkeepers shortlisted are; Italy and Juventus shot stopper, Gianluigi Buffon, Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich and Slovenia’s Jan Oblak, who plays for Atletico Madrid.

For the defenders, last season’s winners Sergio Ramos and Marcelo of Real Madrid, alongside former Juventus steward, Leonardo Bonucci.

In the middle of the park, Real Madrid trio, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Brazilian, Casemiro, will contend for the best midfielder in Europe last season.

The forward line has veterans, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, alongside Juventus and Argentine youngster, Paulo Dybala.

The winners of each position will be announced on August 24 by UEFA.
Real Madrid won the 2016/2017 Champions League season, defeating Juventus 4-1 in Cardiff last June.
