Austrian seventh seed Dominic Thiem is through to his first ever Grand Slam final following his straight sets victory over unseeded Italian Marco Ceccinato in their semi-final clash.
Thiem, 24, defeated Novak Djokovic’s conqueror in the quarters 7-5 7-6 (12-10) 6-1 to book his spot in Sunday’s French Open final.
He battled his way through the first two sets before clinching the third in 21 minutes thus setting up a final meeting with either Spain’s Rafael Nadal or Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro.
