RUGBY: Nigeria, Ghana Lock Horns For Bragging Rights in Presidents Cup

Nigeria’s national rugby team, The Black Stallions, will face Ghana in the 2019 Presidents Cup in a two-legged encounter.

Team Nigeria will host their Ghanaian counterparts in Lagos on May 4, 2019, in the first leg of the fixture.

The return fixture billed for Ghana was fixed to hold seven days after the Lagos tie but due to the Ramadan fast holding about that time, the second leg will hold on June 11, 2019.

Thirty players have been invited to join the one-week training camp which opens on Saturday, April 27, 2019, according to the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation.

Bronson Weir, coach of The Black Stallions hopes to use the one-week training window to work on observable gray areas in their last game against Niger.

“I am looking forward to meeting up with the players again and looking to improve on areas where we did not do well vs Niger where we won convincingly,” he said.

Weir also threw the door open for Rugby club coaches in the country to come witness the training sessions during the one week of preparations in camp.
