Prudent Energy Handball Premier League: Home Teams Disappoint On Matchday 5

Local favourites Lagos Seasiders failed to make the most of home support on Wednesday as they were held to a 28-28 scoreline by Borno Spiders on Matchday 5 of the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League holding at the Rowe Park Sports Center, Yaba, Lagos.

In other games in the men’s category, Kano Pillars brushed aside Owena Kings 34-27 while defending champions Niger United held on to carve out a gritty 32-30 win against an impressive De Defenders team.

COAS Shooters continued their winning run with a 28-18 defeat of Plateau Vipers, Kada Stars beat Prison Key Boys 32-28 victory while Safety Shooters saw off Sokoto Rima 28-22.

The home team didn’t also fare well in the women’s category, as Seasider Babes suffered a narrow 27-30 loss to Edo Dynamos.

Defending champions Plateau Peacocks were ruthless in a 44-11 annihilation of Owena Queens, Desert Queens defeated Abia Valiants 37-25 while Safety Babes defeated Kada Queens 30-23.

Other matches saw Imo Grasshoppers defeat Defender Babes 26-20 while Owena Queens suffered a second defeat on the day losing 20-38 in an exhibition game against Ghana Police.

Dikko Ibrahim of Lagos Seasiders and Dike Clara Ezinne of Imo Grasshoppers were adjudged the Most Valuable Players on Matchday 5 in the men and women’s categories respectively.
