Lukaku Plans To Retire From Belgium NT At 27

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has stated that he would retire after the 2020 edition of the European Championship.

The 25-year-old made this known in a chat with Business Insider.

In his words, the former Anderlecht and Everton star said: “After the Euros, I think I’ll stop (retire from Belgium NT). Every big tournament for us as a country has to be getting into the semifinals, and then you go from there. You will go to win the whole thing, but you don’t go for less than the semifinals.”

His announcement means that he would retire at the age of 27.

Romelu Lukaku is Belgium’s all-time leading goalscorer with 40 goals in 75 appearances and he recently played a big role to help his team to a third-placed finish at the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament.

He scored four goals in Russia to finish as the joint-second highest goalscorer behind England international striker Harry Kane, who won the tournament’s Golden Boot with six goals.
