Ligue 1 Review: Monaco Secure Comeback Win Over Lille To Trim Gap

French champions AS Monaco have moved back to within 14 points of Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint Germain (PSG) following their comeback victory over relegation battlers Lille Metropole at home.

The visitors took a shock lead through Lebo Mothiba in the 16th minute but they could not hold on with in-form Rony Lopes hitting the back of the net to level proceedings for his team just before the halftime whistle.

Montenegro international forward Stevan Jovetic then scored the second goal on the hour mark to give the hosts a 2-1 win in the Matchday 30 league clash.

The victory takes Monaco back to within 14 points of PSG who had gone 17 points clear on Wednesday night with a 2-1 win over Angers in a rescheduled game.

On the other hand, former champions Lille have work to do to survive relegation between now and the end of the season with the club in 19th spot with 28 points meaning that they are one point away from safety with eight league games left.
