Ligue 1 Review: Marseille Close In On Top Two With Dijon Win

Olympique Marseille have moved within four points of the top two in the race for next season’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) qualification with a comfortable 3-1 win over their hosts Dijon in what was a Matchday 31 French Ligue 1 clash on Saturday evening.

Valerie Germain’s first half opener for Marseille was cancelled out by a 73rd minute strike from Kwon Chang-hoon before further goals from Lucas Ocampos and Dmitri Payet (had penalty saved before scoring the rebound) gave the visitors three crucial points against 10-man Dijon who had Cedric Yambere sent off towards the end of the game.

The win takes Marseille to 62 points though they stay in 3rd spot behind Monaco (66 points) while Dijon (38 points) also stay in 10th place despite the loss.
