Manchester United Sign Portuguese Fullback Dalot

Manchester United have signed young Portuguese fullback Diogo Dalot from FC Porto.

Dalot, 19, has signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford after the Red Devils agreed to pay £19m for him.

Diogo Dalot broke into the FC Porto’s first team in October and went on to make seven appearances.

He has represented Portugal from under-15 to under-21 level.

On his move to Old Trafford, Dalot said: “The chance of coming to the biggest club in the world is something I just couldn’t turn down.”

While speaking about his new signing, Mourinho referred to him as the best young full-back. In his words, the Portuguese tactician said: “In his age group, he is the best full-back in Europe.”

“He is an extremely talented young defender with all the qualities to quickly become a great player for this club.

“He has all the attributes that a full-back needs: physicality, tactical intelligence and technical quality, combined with a Porto academy mentality which prepares players for the maturity they need at the professional level.” he concluded.

United have been very active in the transfer market in the last 24 hours after they announced that they have agreed a deal with Ukrainian side Shakthar Donetsk for Brazilian midfielder Fred.
