Manchester United have leapfrogged city rivals Manchester City to secure top spot in the English Premier League (EPL) after they defeated bottom club Crystal Palace 4-0 at home.

Spanish playmaker Juan Manuel Mata gave United the lead as early as the 3rd minute before Belgian midfielder added two goals either side of halftime. New summer signing Romelu Lukaku netted his 7th league goal of the season in the final ten minutes of the encounter to wrap up the victory for the Red Devils.

United have now recorded 19 points from their first 7 games of the new league season ahead of Manchester City (16 points) and Tottenham Hotspur (14 points).
