Former French Ligue 1 champions Lille Metropole have dropped into the relegation zone after they were beaten 1-0 at relegation rivals Troyes in a week 21 clash.

Malian international forward Adama Niane for the only goal of the game for the hosts on the stroke of halftime to earn three crucial points in the race to avoid the drop at the end of the season.

The win takes Troyes (24 points) above Lille, Angers and Saint Etienne into 15th spot while Lille (22 points) drop from 17th to 18th position.
