Nnamdi Egbujuo ensured Enugu Rangers left Gabon with a precious away goal that puts the Flying Antelopes in good stead to secure qualification to the group stage of the 2019/2020 CAF Confederation Cup following a 2-1 loss to AS Pelican in the first leg of the first round of the Confederation Cup in Libreville on Saturday.

Rangers, Nigeria’s sole surving representatives in the competition were given a bye in the preliminary stage found and travelled to Libreville for the first leg of their encounter against AS Pelican who had squeezed through the preliminary round after seeing off Congolese side Maniema Union on penalties.

AS Pelican were the better team for long stretches and led 2-0 at a point at the Stade D’Angondje before Egbujuo popped up with the all-important strike to leave rifled home to leave Benedict Ugwu’s side in a good position ahead of the second leg at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on the 29th of September.
