Defending Champions D’Tigers Get Favourable AfroBasket Draw

Draws for Afrobasket 2017 were conducted on Sunday in Mauritius, with champions D’Tigers of Nigeria getting a favourable draw at the championship which will be jointly hosted by Tunisia and Senegal.

D’Tigers who will be based in Tunis, Tunisia, were drawn in group A alongside DR Congo, Mali and Cote D’Ivoire.

The championship in its 29th edition, which was initially scheduled to be hosted by Angola, was withdrawn by FIBA Africa after it was announced the Southern African country will be holding general elections in the same period.

Nigeria will be making her 18th appearance at the championship, winning a maiden winners medal at the 2015 edition held in Tunisia.

It is hoped that Tunisia will bring good omen for the D’Tigers, as they aim to defend and win the title for a second time at the 16 team championship, which holds between 8th – 16th September.
