Serie A Review: Benevento Stun Milan As Roma Strengthen UCL Hopes With Big Win

AC Milan suffered their most disappointing result of the season after they were stunned 1-0 at home to basement club Benevento in their Italian Serie A Matchday 34 clash at the San Siro on Saturday night.

Pietro Lemmelo scored the only goal of the game on 29 minutes for a Benevento side that finished the game with 10 men after Malian international forward Chiekh Diabate was sent off for two yellow cards with 10 minutes to go.

The win was Benevento’s first away victory of the season with the team now up to 17 points in 20th spot despite the fact that relegation is inevitable while AC Milan (54 points) stay in 6th spot.

AS Roma (67 points) didn’t have much problems in their own Matchday 34 clash at SPAL 2013 with the capital club winning 3-0 to move above city rivals Lazio (64 points) in the race for the top four and next season’s UEFA Champions League (UCL).

Francesco Vicari (own goal), Radja Nainggolan and Patrick Schick got the goals for AS Roma as they had a morale boosting win ahead of the crucial UCL semifinal first leg clash with Liverpool on Tuesday.
