Team Nigeria Starts Davis Cup Tournament On A Winning Note

Team Nigeria got off to a great start at the ongoing Davis Cup tournament in Kenya, winning all the three matches against Rwanda on Tuesday.
The Nigerian team will also face Benin Republic and Cameroon in Pool A of the Africa Zone Group III.
In the first match, Sylvester Emmanuel defeated Rwanda’s Ernest Habiyambere 6-1 7-5 before Nigeria’s top seed Joseph Imeh thrashed Rwanda’s captain, Olivier Havugimana 6-0 6-1 in 48 minutes.
Nigeria thereafter took a 3-0 lead after the aforementioned Imeh teamed up with Christian Paul to beat the duo of Hamissi Gatete and Etienne Niyigena in two straight sets of 6-1, 6-2 in the doubles event.
The race puts Team Nigeria in a fantastic position to win the pool thus standing a chance to gain promotion from Group III to Group II.
