Liverpool Hold Off Roma To Secure UCL Final Meeting With Real Madrid

Liverpool are through to their first UEFA Champions League (UCL) final in eleven years (2007) after they held off AS Roma 7-6 on aggregate in their semifinal clash at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night.

The Reds had won the first leg 5-2 last week Tuesday and were relatively comfortable in the second leg until the final five minutes.

Sadio Mane’s 9th minute lead for Liverpool was cancelled out by a James Milner own goal only for Dutch midfielder Giorginio Wijnaldum to re-establish the lead for the Reds.

The hosts turned on the style in the second half with three goals from Edin Dzeko and Radja Nainggolan (2) but the 4-2 scoreline was not enough as Liverpool held on to secure a final meeting with holders Real Madrid in Kiev on May 26.
