Enyimba Goalkeeper Fatai Dauda To Be Fined For Akwa United Dismissal

Enyimba goalkeeper Fatai Dauda will be fined by the club after his dismissal during the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) Matchday 19 home clash with AITEO Cup champions Akwa United.

His punishment was revealed by the club chairman, Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu.

In his words via Tribune, Anyansi-Agwu said: “We are going to make a statement to serve as a deterrent because Dauda acted alone. Such anger is not part of football. I condemn it totally.”

“You have sent an apology. I feel you, how you recognize it was a very terrible mistake. Nobody in football is perfect, so don’t feel like you put the rest of the team in trouble. Maybe we would have won, maybe. But that’s football: you either win, lose or draw.

“However, we will have to fine you, so that you too can feel it. Because we want you to always act professionally.” he concluded.

Fatai Dauda was sent off in the first half but his side battled well to an impressive draw against Akwa United.
