FIFA U20 WC: I Can’t Wait to Make Coach Aigbogun Proud in Poland – Makanjuola

Water FC of Abuja forward Success Makanjuola has vowed to make Flying Eagles coach, Paul Aigbogun proud when the 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup starts in Poland later this Month.

The highly-rated left-footed forward, who is popularly called Young Messi by his fans, was among the 21 players selected by Aigbogun for the World Cup, which will be staged in Poland from 23rd May to 15th June.

“I am very happy that the coach picked me and I’m more grateful to him because I know it was not an easy decision for the coach to pick the final squad,” Makanjuola said.

“Like what the coach told all of us when he was announcing the list, he said ‘everybody has done very well in training but  can’t take everyone to the World Cup,’ so I think the entire team owe him a lot when the tournament starts, and personally I can’t wait to put up a very good performance for the coach”.

The 18-year-old dazzling winger further hailed the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the level of preparation the team is having in Germany ahead of the World Cup.

“I think for us the players we don’t have any excuse not to make our country proud in Poland  because everything we need has been given to us by the NF, from camping to motivation, so we  just want to put smiles on the faces of all Nigerians and we are asking for their prayers”, Makanjuola stressed.

The Flying Eagles will begin their World Cup campaign on the 24th of May against Qatar before subsequent group games against the United States of America and Ukraine.

Nigeria’s last appearance at the FIFA U20 World Cup was in New Zealand four years ago, where Coach Manu Garba’s boys were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Germany in Christchurch.
