Ligue 1 Review: Lyon Capitulate To Put UCL Bid In Danger As Monaco Go Second With Win

Olympique Lyon suffered an unexpected collapse in the dying minutes of their French Ligue 1 Matchday 37 clash with Racing Strasbourg leading to a 3-2 loss that could prove catastrophic in the chase for next season’s UEFA Champions League (UCL).

Stephane Bahoken’s opener for Strasbourg was overturned with goals from Nabil Fekir and Houssem Aouar before the late capitulation made possible by goals from the home side’s Nuno Da Costa and Dmitri Liehard.

Lyon (75 points) drop down one place to 3rd spot as a result of the 3-2 loss while Monaco are up to 2nd place following a 1-0 win over Saint Etienne courtesy of Fabinho’s last minute penalty despite finishing the game with 10 men due to Rachid Ghezzal’s dismissal.
