Former England Player Calls Argentine Legend ‘A Cheat’ As He Relives Unforgettable World Cup Game

Former Three Lions of England player, Peter Reid, has called Argentine football legend a cheat while he was talking about the unforgettable quarterfinal clash between Argentina and England at the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico.

Argentina saw off England 2-1 with two goals from Diego Maradona and the match would be fondly remembered for the ‘Hand of God’ incident involving the former national team captain.

Speaking through his autobiography, legendary hard man for England Reid recalls the incident which led to the team’s exit from Mexico’86. He said:

“It’s not the Hand of God, it’s the hand of a cheating b*****d – and it still gives me nightmares.”

“In my sleep, I still get flashbacks to the day England were cheated out of the World Cup by Diego Maradona’s ‘Hand of God.’

“And I never knew a single football match could have such a lasting effect on my life.” he further stated.

The autobiography titled ‘Cheer Up Peter Reid’ will be released on Thursday, October 5, 2017.
