Sadio Mane: Klopp Reveals Timeframe For Injured Forward’s Return

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says forward Sadio Mane would likely only miss another two matches after tearing a muscle in last week’s match against Wolves.

The reigning African Footballer of the Year missed the Reds 2-2 draw with League One club Shrewsbury in Saturday’s FA Cup fourth round fixture with the injury.

But the German manager revealed Mane’s injury was not as severe as was feared initially and the Senegalese will miss just two more games before returning to action.

“Sadio will not be involved for West Ham and probably not Southampton,” said the Liverpool boss.

“After that he will be back on track. He has a small muscle tear which is serious enough. We were lucky with it, though, it wasn’t too serious.”

Mane has been in red hot form for Liverpool this season as they mount an all-out assault for a first league title in 30 years.

The Senegal forward has scored 11 goals in the league and 15 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions helping Liverpool win the Super Cup and the World Club Cup.

He scored 26 goals for the Reds last season as they won the Uefa Champions League with his performances earning him Africa’s top gong as CAF Player of the Year.
