Italian Serie A (Tuesday): Atalanta Close In On European Places With Genoa Win

UEFA Europa League (UEL) campaigners Atalanta have moved closer to the European places on the league table after their 2-1 win over their hosts Genoa on Tuesday evening.

On-loan AC Milan player, Andrea Bertolacci, gave the home side the lead but it was cancelled out by Josip Ilicic’s equaliser on the stroke of halftime before Andrea Masiello’s winner after the interval snatched all the points for Atalanta.

The win takes Atalanta (23 points) from 12th to 8th and to within four points of Sampdoria (27 points), who occupy the last European place (6th).

On the other hand, Genoa (13 points) stay two points above the relegation zone in 16th place after a first defeat under new manager Davide Ballardini.
