FAZ Appoints Belgian As New Zambia Coach

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has appointed a new head coach for the senior male national team, Chipolopolo.

Belgian tactician Sven Vandebroek is the man chosen by FAZ to take Zambian football into the promise land.

Vandenbroek replaces former coach Wedson Nyirenda who resigned from the post to take over at South African side FC Baroka.

Nyirenda ended his one-year reign as the coach of Zambia after he spectacularly fell out with FAZ officials and the Zambian fans.

Sven Vandenbroek, a former assistant coach with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, will be on the same US$10, 000 monthly salary Nyirenda was being paid while he was still in charge.

The Belgian tactician was part of Cameroon’s 2017 AFCON winning team and has been tasked with the job of helping Zambia qualify for next year’s tournament in Cameroon.

He is expected to hit Zambia on Friday to finalise his contract details and also put pen to paper before he’s presented to the media officially.
