Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus were beaten to the Coppa Italia cup by Napoli on Wednesday at the Stadio Olmpico in Rome.
The game ended barren at regulation time before Napoli secured th e trophy from the spot with a 4-2 scoreline.
Juventus’ first penalty taker, Paulo Dybala, had his shot saved by Alex Meret, and Danilo, the second taker for Juve, sent his shot over the bar. Napoli made all four of their attempts to shut the door and take home the coveted domestic cup.
Juve’s coach Maurizio Sarri was facing his former team yet couldn’t get the better of them, losing his second cup final with the team after losing the Italian Super Cup to Lazio earlier in the season.
Ronaldo had missed a spot kick in Juve’s second leg semifinal encounter against AC Milan but progressed courtesy of the Portuguese’s only goal from the first leg.
His inability to find the back of the net since the resumption of football across Italy has seen fans of his closest rival Lionel Messi throwing a barrage of trolls against the former Real Madrid man.
