CAF Announces New Dates For Champions League Semifinal And Final

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) says the Champions League semi-final second leg between Egypt’s Zamalek and Raja Casablanca of Morocco will now hold on 4 November at the Cairo International Stadium, Egypt.

The match which had been scheduled for Sunday after being moved from last weekend was postponed again after 14 Raja players tested positive for coronavirus.

The final itself, which was set to take place in Egypt on Friday 6 November will now hold on 27 November at the Borg Al Arab Stadium, in Alexandria, a CAF statement said on Friday.

Moroccan champions Raja lost 1-0 to Zamalek in the first leg in Casablanca earlier this month and are battling to meet another Egyptian side, Al Ahly, in the final.

Fulfilling the 2019-2020 Champions League season has proven extremely challenging for CAF because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The final was originally scheduled to be played in May, before being moved back to October and then to November.

CAF would be hoping that the latest adjustments – the fourth since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic – will be the last.
