Copa Del Rey Review: Barcelona Make Light Work Of Murcia As Lower Oppositions Stun Basque Clubs

Barcelona secured an easy passage into the Round of 16 of the Spanish Copa Del Rey following their 8-0 aggregate victory over Real Murcia.

Goals from Paco Alcacer, Gérard Pique, Aleix Vidal and José Arnaiz helped the holders to a 5-0 win at the Nou Camp in their 2nd leg clash to add to the 3-0 first leg win the Spanish giants recorded at Real Murcia.

Basque clubs Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad have been eliminated by lower oppositions.

Bilbao lost 1-0 at home to Segunda B side Formentera for an aggregate 2-1 loss while Real Sociedad lost a 2-0 lead at home to Lleida Esporsitu.

The away side won 3-2 meaning that the aggregate scoreline ended 3-3 but they go through to the next stage on away goals.

Sevilla and Atletico Madrid had no such problems after respective aggregate wins over Cartegena and Elche.

Goals from Ben Yedder (2), Henrique Ganso and Joaquin Correa gave Sevilla a 4-0 win at home for an overall 7-0 win over the two legs.

Atletico Madrid secured a 4-1 aggregate win over Elche with a dominant 3-0 victory in the 2nd leg through goals from Jose Gimenez and Fernando Torres (2).
