World number one Roger Federer is on course to win a 10th Halle Open title after he defeated American qualifier Dennis Kudla in straight sets to book his place in the final.
The Swiss won 7-6 (7-1) 7-5 against Kudla in their semifinal clash on Saturday.
The 20-time Grand Slam champion will now face Borna Coric of Croatia in Sunday’s final.
Coric’s last four opponent, Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain, was unable to continue despite leading 3-2 in the first set after he slipped on the grass.
Speaking after his win over Kudla, Federer, who won the Stuttgart Open last week, said: “I’m very happy, I’ve never played back-to-back finals on grass in the Wimbledon run-up.”
“This is a first for me.” He added.
