WAFU Nations Cup: Home-based Super Eagles in Dakar to Avenge Togo on Sunday

Home based Super Eagles of Nigeria on Thursday arrived in Dakar, the capital of Senegal for the 2nd edition of the WAFU Cup of Nations scheduled to commence in Thies on Saturday, 28th September.

A contingent of 27: 6 officials and 21 players left Abuja earlier in the day, landed in Cote d’Ivoire’s capital Abidjan before heading to Dakar.

 Nigeria which finished second behind Ghana at the Inaugural edition in 2017 will face the Sparrow Hawks of Togo in their first match of the competition at the Stade Lat Dior Thies.

In a 2020 African Nations Championship qualifying match between both teams, barely a week ago, Nigeria embarrassingly fell 4-1 to the Togolese side  and will be fired to settle scores on Sunday.

The winner of the clash will move on to the next round of the competition which is one match way from the final.

Sixteen countries will be participating in the tournament which ends on October 13.
