Samuel Chukwueze notched his second successive start and was instrumental as Villarreal recorded their first win of the season with victory against Eibar to go top of the 2020-21 La Liga table.
The Yellow Submarines had drawn their opening game of the campaign against Huesca but fought back from a goal down to defeat Eibar at an empty La Ceramica on Saturday.
The 21-year-old Chukwueze was a constant menace on the right wing and capped a wonderful display with an assist for Gerard Moreno’s second half equaliser.
Moreno had missed a chance to give the Yellow Submarine a first half lead from the spot and was punished when the visitors took the lead through Kike’s 50th minute strike.
Despite the penalty miss, Moreno was put in a man of the match display, laying the assist for strike partner Paco Alcacer to score the winner in the 71st minute.
Chukwueze lasted 85 minutes before making way for Manuel Trigueros as manager Unai Emery sought to protect the lead that earned him his first win as boss of the Yellow Submarines.
