Sevilla Coach Berizzo Set To Undergo Prostrate Surgery

Sevilla head coach Eduardo Berizzo will undergo surgery on Tuesday to treat prostate cancer.

Berizzo, 48, was diagnosed with the condition earlier this month and it became public knowledge after his side came from three goals down to draw 3-3 with Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) last week.

According to the Spanish La Liga club, Berizzo’s return to the La Liga side’s dugout will be dependent on his recovery after the operation.

Assistant manager Ernesto Marcucci has been put in temporary charge of the team.

Eduardo Berizzo spent three years as Celta Vigo head coach before taking over as Sevilla head coach in the summer on a two-year deal.
