Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is winning his battle against ailment according to the Old Trafford outfit.

Ferguson had earlier underwent brain surgery on Saturday but a statement via the official Manchester United handle on Wednesday night revealed that he is no longer in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The tweet said: “Sir Alex no longer needs intensive care and will continue rehabilitation as an inpatient. His family have been overwhelmed by the level of support and good wishes but continue to request privacy as this will be vital during this next stage of recovery.”

Ferguson is widely regarded as the greatest British manager following his trophy-laden time at Old Trafford before he retired in 2013.
