Victor Osimhen and Simy Nwankwo both found the target in a clash of Nigerian strikers as Napoli edged Crotone 4-3 in a hugely thrilling goal-fest in Serie A on Saturday.

Osimhen struck with his fourth league goal of the season to put Napoli 2-0 in the 22nd-minute up after Lorenzo Insigne 19th-minute opener.

It was the Super Eagles hitman’s second goal in as many games after scoring for Nigeria in the 3-1 victory over Lesotho in the international break.

Simy pulled one back for the visitors in the 25th minute but Dries Mertens restored Napoli’s two-goal lead with a sublime 34th-minute freekick.

The hosts’ lead was reduced to a solitary goal after Simy completed his brace three minutes after the restart and the visitors were level eleven minutes later through Junior Messias’s goal.

With his brace, Simy took his tally to 15 goals for struggling Crotone in Serie A this season.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo, however, popped up with the winner in the 72nd-minute to ensure Gennaro Gattuso’s side took all three points in Naples.
