Serie A Review: Inter UCL Bid In Tatters With Shock Sassuolo Defeat

Inter Milan have their UEFA Champions League (UCL) qualification bid in tatters following their stunning 2-1 loss at home to Sassuolo in an Italian Serie A Matchday 37 clash played at the San Siro on Saturday evening.

Matteo Politano and Domenico Berardi scored to give the lowly team a 2-0 lead only for Rafinha to pull one back for Inter Milan ten minutes from time to setup a grandstand finish but Sassuolo held on for a big win.

The loss means Inter Milan (72 points) are still behind capital club Lazio (73 points) in the race for UCL having played one game more.

In the other game played on Saturday, basement club Benevento defeated Genoa 1-0 in their last home league game in the Serie A having already suffered relegation earlier in the season.
