RUGBY: Lagos Rugby Union League Kicks-Off On High Note

The Lagos Men’s Rugby Union League kicked off on Saturday with Police Rugby Club and Kings College Old Boys picking up opening day wins in matches played in the Main Bowl of the National Stadium in Lagos.

The day’s first fixture was recorded as a walkover victory for defending champions Cowries Rugby Club after their opponents Eco II Rugby Club failed to turn up for the encounter.

In other games decided on the opening day, Yahaya Samson scored a try and two conversions for Police Rugby Club in their one-sided 29-3 defeat of Gosar Rugby Club.

The encounter between Kings College Old Boys (KCOB) and Lagos Rugby Club was a much closer affair with KCOB eventually triumphing 17-14 after Sixtus Junior Leonard scored the match-winning try with virtually the last piece of action.
