Rohr Predicts Tough Sudan Tie For Nigeria In CHAN Semis (Audio)

Technical Adviser of Nigeria’s Super Eagles Gernot Rohr has predicted a difficult semi final clash for the Eagles Team B when they face surprise package, Sudan on Wednesday at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN).

After a dramatic quarter final triumph on Sunday against Angola, the Salisu Yusuf-tutored Eagles will hope to overcome the impressive Sudanese in Marrakesh, for a place in Sunday’s final.

But Rohr, who is in Morocco for the CHAN, admits the tie will be a difficult one for Nigeria.

“The semi final will be very difficult because in the semi final, you have to play against a team who played a day earlier,” he said.

“Sudan has the A Team here (in Morocco), so it will be difficult. We have one day less for recovery.

The Franco-German tactician however, believes Nigeria can beat Sudan in the last four.

“But I think physically, they (home-based Super Eagles) are OK and we can also win the semi final.

“Differently, is to try to win (the match) before the extra time so you don’t lose too many energy before the final,” the former Burkina Faso and Gabon coach said.

Nigeria will on Wednesday take on Sudan by 7:30pm local time (which is 8:30pm in Nigeria) at the Stade de Marrakesh.

Before then, hosts, Morocco will square up against fellow North-Africans and 2014 Champions, Libya at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca by 4:30pm local time (5:30pm in Nigeria).
