European champions Real Madrid have reported Italian giants Inter Milan to world football’s governing body, FIFA over an illegal approach for their midfielder Luka Modric according to popular media outlet BBC.
The Croatian World Cup star has been strongly linked with a move to the Italian Serie A outfit.
International football colleagues like Ivan Perisic, Marcelo Brozovic and Sime Vrsaljko are presently on the books of the San Siro club.
The Italian transfer window closes on Friday evening.
While speaking earlier this month, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez revealed that the only way the 32-year-old would leave was if his 750 million euro (£671m) release clause was met.
The Spanish giants had previously sold star man Cristiano Ronaldo to another Italian side in the form of Serie A champions Juventus for £99.2m.
The Portuguese superstar joined the Old Lady during this summer’s transfer window.
Luka Modric joined Real Madrid in 2012 from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and has won one La Liga title and four Champions League titles with the Los Merengues.
His stock rose further this summer after he captained Croatia to the World Cup final and eventually lost 4-2 to champions France.
Modric was named the best player of the tournament.
