Phil Jones Ruled Out Of England, Nigeria Game

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has reportedly been ruled out of Saturday’s international friendly match between England and Nigeria scheduled for the Wembley Stadium.

According to Sky Sports, 26-year-old Jones is expecting a child with his partner next week and has been given the day off as a result.

His absence means that England manager Gareth Southgate has just three centre backs namely John Stones (Manchester City), Gary Cahill (Chelsea) and Harry Maguire (Leicester City) ahead ahead of the Nigeria game though Tottenham Hotspur utility defender Eric Dier and Manchester City right back Kyle Walker can fill in at centre back.

England will face Nigeria on Saturday, June 2 before playing their final World Cup warm up game against Costa Rica
