Ole Solskjaer Reacts To Odion Ighalo’s Debut Performance For Manchester United

Manchester United gaffer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reacted to Odion Jude Ighalo’s performance in his debut against Chelsea.

Ighalo was a 91st-minute substitute for Anthony Martial who had headed United in front in the first half before Harry Maguire grabbed another header in the 66th minute.

The Nigerian international joined the Red Devils from Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua in a last gasp loan move in the January transfer window and became the 200th player to make a debut for United as they romped to a 2-0 victory over their historic rivals at Stamford Bridge.

The former Watford forward could have capped off his cameo debut with a dream goal but was denied by Chelsea goalkeeper Willy Caballero.

Solskjaer expressed delight to see Ighalo’s childhood dream come true and believes the former Ajegunle boy will soon open his goalscoring account.

“Happy for him that he got his debut. Created a good chance, unfortunately didn’t score but sure he’ll get his goals.”

Ighalo becomes the first Nigerian to play for the club and has been included in Solskjaer’s Europa League plans as they travel to Belgium to face Club Brugge at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Thursday.
