Super Eagles Midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has revealed his desire to return to Nigeria’s men senior national team.

Onazi last featured for the Super Eagles against Seychelles in 2018, having only recovered from a long injury layoff, and missed the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

He made 52 appearances for Nigeria and scored once.

The former Trabszonpor midfielder who parted ways with the Black Sea Storm in January currently plays for Super Lig club Denizlispor in Turkey and hopes more game time will give him the chance to impress Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr.

“I was injured that’s why I wasn’t in the national team, I speak with the coach sometimes, and I also congratulated him on his new deal,” he told Brila.

“But you can’t be speaking to the coach all the time, because my job is to play and when I’m doing that pretty well, I’m sure I will be back in the team again.”

Denizlispor faces Rizespor on Sunday and the 27-year-old is expected to play a part in helping the Super Lig outfit return to winning ways after losing their last two league games.

The Roosters sit 13th on the log with 31 points and are just 4 points away from relegation zone.
