NWFL: Dennerby Tips Ibom Angels to Improve After Loss in Season Opener (AUDIO)

Ibom Angels will improve despite losing to opponents Confluence Queens on the opening day of the 2018/2019 Nigeria Women Premier League, Super Falcons Head Coach Thomas Dennerby believes.

The 2017 and 2018 Aiteo Cup finalists were unable to pick a point on the road against the Lokoja based side which perfectly benefitted from a set-piece and penalty to defeat the visitors in a game Dennerby described as “even”.

“If you look at the game, there was open play. Like I said, it was pretty even but for your squad (Ibom Angels), they are always going to get better by the season as long as their league campaign goes on.

The management of the team appointed Morufu Adeyemo as the club’s Technical Adviser after the end of the last season as a replacement for former coach Whyte Ogbonda and Dennerby opines that the Angels will regain momentum despite experiencing a slow start.

“This is the beginning and is the first game, teams get nervous. They’re going to get better in the end of the season and after a couple of more rounds in the league.” He stated in a media chat with the club’s media officer, Ini Akang.

The Uyo based side play host to Abia Angels in their second game of the abridged league at the training pitch of the Nest of Champions.
