NTTF Unveils List For Commonwealth Games

The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) has released the list of players to represent the country at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia next month.

The list was made known to the public on Thursday and it includes veteran player Segun Toriola, Aruna Quadri, Italy-based Omotayo Olajide, Jamiu Azeez and Portugal-based Bode Abiodun, who is a teammate of Aruna Quadri at Sporting.

Team Nigeria is expected to compete in the men’s singles and men’s team Table Tennis events in Gold Coast.

In para-table tennis, Faith Bazuaye (female) and Holland-based Tope Ogunsanya (male) will hoist the country’s flag during the event at the Games

According to the national Table Tennis coach Nosiru Bello, players were picked on current form and that the country wants to build on the success of Glasgow 2014.

In his words via Punch, Coach Bello said: “Aruna is the best Nigerian player currently and no one can dispute that. Toriola is experienced and has proved many times he can deliver on the international scene. Omotayo is also doing well in Italy while Bode is also in good form. Jamiu is on the team to learn more and build his confidence.”

“Our target is to do better than what we did in 2014. That is why these set of players were selected.” he added.
