Nigerian Players Win Five Medals At All Africa Badminton Championship

Team Nigeria recorded an impressive haul of five medals (3 silver and 2 bronze medals) at the just concluded All Africa individual Badminton championship which ended on Sunday in Algeria.

Nigeria had earlier finished second behind Algeria and Mauritius in both the men and women’s event respectively in the final of the Thomas and Uber cup.

At the aforementioned Badminton Championship, Nigeria won silver medal in the men’s singles event through Habeeb Temitope Bello after he was beaten 21-16, 15-21, 21-13 by Georges Julien Paul of Mauritania.

The men’s singles event featured 19 countries and 86 participants while 14 countries and 59 participants took part in the women’s category.

Team Nigeria’s Dorcas Adesokan won silver medal in the women’s category as she was beaten 21-16, 21-19 by Kate Kune Foo of Mauritania.

Nigeria also won a silver medal in the mixed doubles event.

The two bronze medals came in the women’s doubles event and the men’s singles final.
