Ligue 1 Review: Monaco, Marseille Fail To Win

French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco and Olympique Marseille failed to win their respective week three games on Sunday.

Immediate past champions Monaco were beaten 2-1 at Bordeaux courtesy second half goals from Guinean striker Francois Kamano, including a 48th minute penalty.

17-year old Italian forward Pietro Pellegri got the only goal for the Principality club.

Europa League campaigners and last season’s beaten finalists Marseille also failed to win as they came back from two goals down to play a 2-2 at home to Stade Rennes.

Benjamin Borigeaud and Ismaila Sarr gave Rennes a shock 2-0 lead in the first half but the hosts bounced back after the halftime interval.

Argentinian forward Lucas Ocampos pulled one back after nine minutes before an own goal from Algerian defender Ramy Bensebani levelled proceedings for the home side.

Marseille piled up the pressure in a bid to score the winning goal but Rennes held on to the 2-2 draw.

In the other game on Sunday, Lille are up to third on the league table following their convincing 3-0 win over 10-man Guingamp at home.

Xeka and French striker Jonathan Bamba got the goals for Lille, while Christophe Kerbrat was sent off towards the end of the second half for the visitors.
