Ligue 1 Review: Marseille Miss Out On UCL Spot With Angers Draw As Cavani Brace Saves Champions PSG

Olympique Marseille have missed out on the chance to occupy a top three spot that will guarantee UEFA Champions League (UCL) football next season following their disappointing 1-1 draw at Angers in a French Ligue 1 Matchday 35 clash played on Sunday evening.

Florian Thauvin continued his impressive goalscoring form by giving Marseille a 3rd minute lead from the penalty spot but Rudi Garcia’s men fail to hold on to that advantage with Ismael Traore equalising for the hosts in the last quarter of the game.

The draw means Marseille (70 points) stay behind third-placed Monaco (71 points) with three league games left to play.

Champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) were also in action on Sunday as they needed a six-minute brace to secure a 2-2 draw at home to lowly Guingamp.
