Bundesliga Review: Dortmund Edge Closer To UCL Qualification Despite Bremen Draw

Borussia Dortmund have moved a point closer to securing a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) after they battled to a 1-1 draw at Werder Bremen in what was a German Bundesliga Matchday 32 clash played on Sunday.

In-form playmaker Marco Reus’ opening goal for Dortmund was cancelled out by Danish star Thomas Delaney just before the halftime interval as both sides settled for a point apiece.

Dortmund (55 points) stay in 3rd spot but are significantly four points ahead of the first placed team outside the UCL spots (Bayer Leverkusen) while Bremen (38 points) also stay in their 12th position.

In the other game played on Sunday, Mainz 05 are closing in on another season in the German Bundesliga following their 3-0 thrashing of European chasers RB Leipzig.
