Mane Scores 50th Premier League Goal as Liverpool Move Atop the Premier League

Senegal international, Sadio Mane got a brace as Mohamed Salah continued his return to form moving Liverpool to the summit of the Premier League table with a comfortable 4-1 victory against bottom Cardiff City at Anfield on Saturday.

Salah also silenced his doubters when he converted a close-range finish after Mane’s shot was parried in the ninth minute, his fourth goal in three matches.

The Reds dominated with 86 percent in possession and had 12 shots on target in a commanding first half.

It was until the 66th minute before Liverpool added a second, with Mane cutting through a couple of tackles before unleashing a fierce drive into the corner with his left foot.

Cardiff City looked like they were ready for a comeback with only 17 minutes remaining on the clock set up a potentially nervy finish from Callum Paterson.

Cardiff was only stunned in the closing minutes when Xherdan Shaqiri scored his first goal for Liverpool and Mane put the game to bed with a late finish.

Liverpool remain unbeaten and have won eight out of ten matches with 26 points – three points clear of reigning champions Manchester City who will look to reclaim top spot if they beat Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night.

Cardiff City stays 17th on the log with just five points from their opening 10 matches.
